Marie’s teaching experience has been wide and varied. She began her career teaching music and mathematics at Stoke-on-Trent 6th Form College where she taught for five years before taking a career break to bring up her two boys. She returned to the profession in a part-time capacity, firstly as a peripatetic music teacher, then as a music specialist in two primary schools, finally taking on a full time classroom post at Seabridge Primary School. She is currently still working at Seabridge and is part of the senior leadership team. Her responsibilities include supporting Teacher Educators as well as being a teaching and learning mentor and co-ordinator for Health and Safety. Marie became involved with the Keele PGCE course in September 2012, advising the students on the content of the Primary mathematics curriculum. Since then her involvement with the ITE programme has increased and she is currently seconded to the SCITT for three days per week, where she is one of the Assistant Directors. Her other roles include placement co-ordinator, TE support tutor, mathematics and music subject lead and mathematics specialism tutor. She is also pleased to be working with the Stoke-on-Trent Research School, delivering on the EEF KS2/3 mathematics guidance.
