I completed my PGCE at the University of Birmingham in 1990 and went on to teach History and Religious Education in a variety of mainstream schools for ten years. I then moved to Blackfriars, an SEN school in Newcastle under Lyme. For ten years I also worked for the Staffordshire Physical Disability Support Service, working in local mainstream schools supporting staff to meet the needs of pupils with disabilities or medical needs. I feel privileged to continue to teach Humanities subjects at Blackfriars whilst also working as professional tutor to trainee teachers on the PGCE course. I also work as the Appropriate Body for Blackfriars Teaching School, assessing and supporting NQT’s in their first year of teaching. Working with teachers joining the profession and continuing to teach myself combines the aspects of the teaching profession for which I have a real passion and enjoyment.
